Fall food fun! These super easy strawberry treats are the perfect addition to any Halloween party. If you’re going to have some chocolate, at least you’re getting a good dose of vitamin C and fibre alongside it! California Strawberries @castrawberries are available all year and offer a lower sugar and lower calorie option compared to many fruits. Plus, they are the perfect shape to make these pumpkins and ghosts!!
If you want to give these treats a try, all you need is a box of fresh California Strawberries, some white melting chocolates, food colouring and/or melted chocolate chips.
Step 1: Wash the Strawberries and pat dry
Step 2: Melt the white chocolate over medium low heat, stirring well to ensure it doesn’t stick to the pan or become to hot…
For Ghosts: Dip each strawberry in a the white chocolate, and leave a little “trail” for the ghost tail. Place on a parchment paper lined plate or tray. Set in the fridge. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate chips to make the eyes 👀 and nose. I used confectionery “candy eyes” for these ones.
For Pumpkins: When the white chocolate is melted, add 18 drops of yellow food dye and 2-3 drops of red to get the perfect pumpkin orange colour. Dip each strawberry in the orange chocolate and let set on a parchment paper lined tray for 10-15 min. If you’d like to add the pumpkin lines, take the extra chocolate in a ziplock bag with a small corner hole or piping bag with frosting attachment and draw lines downward on the strawberry. Make the pumpkin “patch” using broken Oreos and twisted leaves.
Store both options in the fridge and enjoy as soon as possible!
Happy Halloween 🎃 👻
